Vasari Stucco is formulated for exterior applications and areas where durability and water resistance is required.

COVERAGE
140 square feet (15.5 square yards or 13 square meters) for a single coat per 1 bag of Stucco based on smoothness of underlying surface and style of application.
SUITABLE APPLICABLE EXTERIOR SURFACES:
Apply Vasari Stucco over substrates that are clean, cohesive, free of contamination.
Exterior application: Stucco should be applied over Vasari Basecoat, which is the equivalent of ‘scratch and brown’ coats. It is highly recommended that the Basecoat is applied over expanded metal lath as opposed to ‘chicken wire. Basecoat can also applied on top cement board, greenboard, blue board, magnesium board and other manufactured boards.
Showers: Stucco can be used in showers. We recommend a penetrating sealer when finished.
Gypsum Drywall: (Interior only) Drywall should be taped and smoothed to a level 2 or higher finish in accordance with Gypsum Association’s GA-214. Use Vasari Primer or latex primers before applying Stucco.
Existing painted substrates: Vasari Stucco will adhere to previously existing painted surfaces as long as they are latex or acrylic (water based). We recommend scuffing the surface for better adhesion and wiping any dust before plaster application.
Existing texture: Stucco can be applied onto existing texture such as orange peel or skip trowel. Apply first coat to cover texture. Minor cracking might occur from excessive thickness, which is acceptable as long as there’s no de-lamination or peeling.
Preparatory work: Mask and protect adjacent surfaces and remove any dust from surface, especially after sanding. Mask about 1/16th inch from adjacent surface or trim to allow for thickness of plaster.
Primer: Vasari Primer or latex primer is required over gypsum board, wood and other substrates with uneven suction or moisture absorption. Allow primer to dry before plaster application.

GENERAL APPLICATION for EXTERIORS
Stucco can be applied in a matte, unpolished sheen with minor movement and variation, or can be troweled to smooth semi-reflective finish.
Lathing: Install appropriate industry standard expanded lath, weep screed, metal corners, riglets and joints where applicable.
1st coat: Scratch coat - Add 3 parts plaster sand Basecoat and apply over expanded metal lathe. Basecoat can be troweled or sprayed with appropriate pump and then back-trowled. Mist the scratch coat with water as it begins to dry and the next day to prevent cracking. Allow 1 week to cure.
2nd coat: Brown coat- Add 4 parts plaster sand Bascoat and apply over expanded metal lathe. Basecoat can be troweled or sprayed with appropriate pump and then back-trowled. Mist the brown coat with water as it begins to dry and the next day to prevent cracking. Allow 1 week to cure.
3rd coat: Finish coat – trowel Vasari Stucco using two or more passes to the desired finish. Repeatedly mist the finish coat with the next day to prevent cracking. Allow 4 weeks to cure.
Optional top coats: If desired, plaster can be finished with Vasari Lime Wash, sealer, or modified Veneziano or Marmorino plasters for a smoother higher polish finish.
Colorants. Plaster can be tinted to almost any color with water based or dry pigments. Multiple colors can be applied simultaneously for more creative finishes. Stucco can be colored with liquid or powder tints.
Shelf Life: Dry mix will last 2 years and wet mix will be useable at least 6 hours after mixing.
Storage: Keep Vasari Stucco dry mix in dry environment.
Care and Maintenance: All Vasari products can be cleaned using water in most instances. Solvents and mild detergents can be used to remove stubborn stains. Do not use acidic cleaners or bleach. Salts and chlorine can damage Stucco if not sealed or protected. Persistent water streaks can naturally weather Stucco and leave darker areas over time. Repeated water misting of Stucco will reduce weathering.

WARRANTY
Vasari expressly warrantees its products to be fit for the ordinary purpose for which they are intended for a period of 20 years for non-wet interiors installations, and 10 years for exteriors and shower stalls from date of installation when applied and used in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions within six months of purchase.
